Shikake-E Violent Cruxifiction Scene

“A highly unusual scene depicting two crucifixions involving a partly nude male and female nailed to a board.”

The setting is probably near the surroundings of the Kurosuke Inari shrine. The association with Inari and foxes is accentuated by the inclusion of a burning kitsunebi, 'fox-light' or will-o'-the-wisps, near the protagonists. Look for the comical facial expression on the fishing basket !

An extremely rare shunga design !

Original antique Japanese color woodblock. Shunga (Erotic picture).
